Q & A

Q: How do you start your day?
A: Firstly, I make sure to get a good night’s sleep until I wake up naturally (sweet smile!). Once up, I kickstart my day with a large cup of warm water, followed by coffee. After addressing work emails and messages, I take a moment to arrange the color palette from the previous night and start drawing.

Q: What places do you visit regularly?
A: Four to five days a week, I go for a run in the nearby riverside park in the evening. The calming effect of watching the sunset always boosts my mood.

Q: What restaurants do you visit most often?
A: After my evening run, I visit the Yumin Street Night Market in Banqiao to look for my dinner inspiration! It’s on my way home and offers a variety of delicious choices. I don’t have a set meal; I usually try things I haven’t eaten before. There’s a stall selling carrot juice or star fruit juice that I especially like!

Q: What is your after-work entertainment?
A: Being a full-time artist means life and work are intertwined, making it challenging to define a specific “after work” moment. Before the pandemic, after completing a set of artworks, I would spend a day at a local cinema watching movies. Nowadays, I enjoy watching some content from streaming platforms before bedtime every day.

Q: Do you think AI will replace artists, considering the rapid advancement of AI technology that allows for the creation of numerous works in a short time?
A: Predicting the future is difficult, but currently, it seems unlikely. However, the involvement of AI might reshape human art history, similar to how the advent of photography transformed art history two hundred years ago.

Q: What advice do you have for emerging artists dealing with unstable income and the challenge of balancing ideals and necessities?
A: If necessary, take on a regular job; survival is essential! Secure a part-time job to earn enough of a living while pursuing your creative work. It’s a common path for many artists navigating the initial challenges.

Q: What book have you read recently? What thoughts or feelings did you have about the book?
A: I recently read “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind”, examining the evolution and changes in human life from ancient times to the present. Currently, I’m revisiting novels by Haruki Murakami, known for their steady, nuanced, and somewhat fantastical writing style, which resonates with the themes in my recent artworks.

Q: Which place in Taiwan is the most interesting to you or attracts you?
A: Night markets! When night falls, you can discover a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining things there.

Q: What do you expect the most from a hotel stay?
A: Staying in a new place and exploring the surroundings. Each time feels like the beginning of a new life or the start of a fresh experience. Regardless of how often it happens, it always rejuvenates the spirit.

Q: What is your impression of the hotels of the Taipei Inn Group?
A: Exceptional quality, especially the team that handles art pieces. They diligently seek out excellent artworks to decorate the hotel, and throughout the communication process, they demonstrate tremendous respect for the artist’s ideas. This is truly rare! Of course, I’m grateful that through such collaboration, we’ve formed a wonderful friendship!
